Canotaje en el rió Urubamba
Rafting and kayaking are available in both the Urubamba and Vilcanota rivers. Each river offers three 1-day sections and these can be joined to create 2-day and 3-day itineraries. Available rafting trips include:
Urubamba - Boca de Sapo (Toad's Mouth)
This rafting voyage offers plenty of adventure with fast-moving
water and lots of rapids. The river is varied and fast, but the well-traveled
route does not present any significant risk.
Huambutio - Pisaq
This section of the river is the most popular and is considered
the easiest to do. During the months of May - September, no previous
rafting experience is required, nor do tourists need an especially
high level of fitness; as well specialized equipment is minimal.
Rapids are short and are not technically difficult, although they
are beautiful and offer a sufficient level of fun and adventure.
Huarán
The Huarán Rapids are the most exciting section of the Urubamba
River and are located only one hour from Cusco. The Huarán rapids
are a pure adrenalin experience with massive torrents of fast-moving
water and rapids that are sure to excite even experienced rafters.
Previous rafting experience is necessary. Although there is no
considerable risk involved, this section of the river can only be
rafted during the dry season from June - September.
This section of the river is of medium difficulty, but requires a higher technical proficiency in rafting due to the types of maneuvers required - this trip is especially attractive to kayakers. The kayak is a special type of canoe with capacity for only a single person, but whose size and shape permit it to aggressively attack rapids and fast-moving water with large degrees of technical difficulty and make maneuvers that would be impossible in a normal raft.
Duration of excursion : 08 hours approximately.
Frequency : All Days.
Include :
- Transportation by bus to Urubamba river.
- Lunch (salads, hot and cold drinks)
- Expert guide captain of boat.
- Full equipment of rafting..
